pureLiFi and Lucibel tie up to introduce fully industrialized Li-Fi luminaire

The off-the-shelf solution, which will be produced at Lucibel’s industrial site in Barentin in France, will integrate pureLiFi’s innovative technology into a Lucibel LED lighting luminaire. The product measurably reduces the cost for the deployment of both communications and lighting services into a single integrated infrastructure. Additionally, LiFi increases the security, localization and overall capacity of wireless communications systems.The partnership with pureLiFi enables Lucibel to deliver communications solutions to its customers as part of their lighting offering.
This marks a world’s first by leveraging the converging business models of the lighting and communications industries.  Harald Burchardt, pureLiFi’s COO, said: “The partnership we are building with Lucibel provides an important channel to market for pureLiFi, with a view of the longer-term infrastructure roll-out of the technology.  The numbers demonstrate that LiFi is rapidly moving from a predicted emerging technology to one that has real life applications across multiple sectors.”After the integration and industrialization activities are completed, the product is expected to go to market by Q3 2016.
The first installation of this LiFi luminaire will be at the Sogeprom’s headquarters in La Defense in Paris. Cree Launches Industry’s First Driver Compatibility Program for LED Modules

Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) introduces the Driver Compatibility Program for its LED products. The new Driver Compatibility Program provides LED lighting manufacturers with a list of drivers that are compatible with Cree® LED modules, as verified through evaluation and testing by Cree. By leveraging the technology and features of third-party drivers, the program enables lighting manufacturers to quickly address the requirements unique to various countries, further differentiate their products and address more applications. 

The first of its kind program allows Cree to extend its LED module warranty to the use of Cree’s LED module with a compatible third-party LED driver. Cree’s LED modules warranty was previously limited to the use of a Cree LED module with a Cree driver. The Driver Compatibility Program demonstrates Cree’s continued commitment to helping LED lighting manufacturers overcome the challenges of bringing high-quality products to market faster. 

“Cree’s Driver Compatibility Program enabled us to find a driver that meets a customer’s specific dimming requirement,” said Fred Farzan, president of Nora Lighting. “Because of the program, we solved the customer’s problem and won the business.”

Lextar to Showcase Frameless LED Panel Light at HK International Lighting Fair

Lextar Electronics Corp, the LED vertical integration manufacturer, will release its new generation LED flat panel lights – ALLUXIA. ALLUXIA’s frameless visual effect can create flexibility for seamless connection of luminaires. With its simple and neat appearance, it opened a new era of LED flat panel light 5.0.  Lextar will unveil ALLUXIA at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair taking place during October 27-30, 2015.

Since Lextar released its first LED flat panel light in 2010, it has continually been improved and evolved, and has now reached its fifth generation. Lextar’s newly released ALLUXIA flat panel light adopted its mature backlight technology to further improve the planar optical performance, and created a frameless, full-surface luminous visual design. Xicato's New Research-backed LEDs Beautifies Skin Tones

Xicato, a leading manufacturer of intelligent light sources, announces the immediate availability of new commercial LED modules that make people look good – and feel good about how they look. The Beauty Series was developed in partnership with leading lighting designers and cosmetology professionals, who were looking for a light source that is more effective at helping customers match cosmetic foundations to skin tones at cosmetics counters. The new product was not only superior in comparing skin tones, but people preferred how they looked. And when customers looked better, they felt better and more confident, which is desirable in many applications other than the cosmetics counter.

“So often, as lighting designers, we are looking for lighting that enhances the beauty of materials or objects, such as wood, brick, jewelry or tomatoes,” said Claire Hamill, lighting designer at Nulty+. “This is the first time we have looked at people as our primary subject. Accurate and flattering rendering of skin tones is a difficult challenge, because skin is such a rich and complex palette, consisting of many subtle shades. Our studies show that people feel good when they look good, and Beauty Series does this while also providing the clarity and enhanced contrast that facilitates color matching.”

The Beauty Series was developed to support a collaborative study between University College London, Nulty+, Xicato, and a leading global cosmetics brand, and is backed by in-depth research and real-world trials. The object of the study was to get good color matching between cosmetic foundations and skin color, in order to improve customer satisfaction and reduce product returns. Returns are a problem not only for brand retailers, but also for department store owners, since the cosmetics concession typically takes in more revenue than all the other departments. Reducing returns from 10% to 5%, for example, would have a huge impact on profitability.
The Beauty Series LED modules provides 19mm light emitting surface, and 1300 lumen and 2000 lumen output models.
The trials – designed, implemented and analyzed by the University College London – tested a wide range of light sources with different spectral characteristics, including CCT, CRI, color balance and gamut. Consumers were placed in isolated areas with each light source, and surveyed as to how they felt, how they looked, which of three consultant-chosen shades best matched their skin, whether the product appealed to them, whether they would buy the product, etc. 
Shining Light on Skin Tones Research
Xicato Beauty Series was developed over the course of the study to produce the best balance between beautiful, natural skin tones and color discrimination. On average, twice as many people in the study reported that their skin looked good, and that they felt good, under Beauty Series light, and 15% more people reported that foundation matched and appealed to their skin. 


Managers and customers in cosmetics stores in which Beauty Series is installed have commented on how soft and natural the light feels, while at the same time making it easier to choose and apply makeup. There is no longer the need to accommodate workstations near windows or to walk outside for an accurate impression of makeup on skin.
